The Lake
Utah Lake offers a sanctuary for diverse ecosystems alongside many outdoor activities. During the summer, camping, fishing, boating, and picnicking are common. In fall and winter, hunting, ice fishing, and ice skating take the stage.
The lake is home to 18 species of fish, including the threatened June Sucker. You will also find a large amount of carp, introduced in the 1880s. The carp have destroyed much of the vegetation on the lake floor and loosened sediment, which, along with the shallow water, can give the lake a murky appearance on windy days.
It is not just about the fun. It is about preserving a habitat where life thrives both in and out of the water.

Adopt a Shoreline
Groups of all ages and sizes can adopt one of the public access points at Utah Lake, commit to litter pickup, and report any damage to amenities. The Authority supplies gloves and trash bags and coordinates drop-off sites for collected trash.
- Anyone can adopt: businesses, church groups, clubs, families, individuals
- A minimum of three cleanups per year, normally spring, summer, and fall
- Approved by the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources for Dedicated Hunter hours
- Photo and stats reporting after each cleanup keeps the program accountable
Programs for the Community
The Authority runs programs that put residents to work for the lake and put the lake to work for residents.
Small Grants Program
An annual grant cycle that funds community projects benefiting Utah Lake, with a defined timeline, eligible expenses, and a public submission deadline.
