Your Guide to Adventure and Rewards
Prepare for a thrilling journey with the Utah Lake Scavenger Hunt, starting on June 20, 2025, and culminating on June 29, 2025. Our meticulously planned schedule ensures you have ample opportunity to explore, compete, and win. From the moment the hunt begins to the grand finale, every second counts.
Hunt Duration. Start: Friday, June 20, 8:00 AM. End: Sunday, June 29, 10:00 PM.
Prize Announcements
If your team completes 10 missions, each team member receives a $5 gift card. If your team completes 20 missions, you each receive a gift bag of Utah Lake Authority gear, including shirts, stickers, prints, and other swag. If your team completes 30 missions, you each get your choice of either fishing poles, beach toys/games, or birdwatching binoculars.
For every mission your team completes over 30 missions, you will be entered into a drawing for each member to receive a Yeti water bottle. 1 mission = 1 entry.
The GRAND PRIZE will go to the team that wins the drawing. For every 10,000 points, your team will be entered into the drawing. 10,000 points = 1 entry, 20,000 points = 2 entries and so on. The winning team will receive free annual Utah State Parks passes.
3 Things to Know Before Playing
There is a $10 fee to play. Many missions are free. However please be aware that some missions may incur separate entrance or rental fees which are not waived for participants. Rest assured, we've strategically designed multiple missions at each venue to reduce any potential extra expenses.
Isolated algae blooms may be present on Utah Lake. "Know before you go" about algae blooms and how to spot them. Watch for signs and avoid them. Learn more on our HABs Happen page.
We encourage you to check the weather (use the Windy Lookout app for wind notifications; made specifically for Utah Lake!), wear a life jacket and always follow water safety recommendations while on the water participating in this scavenger hunt.
How To Play
Ready to dive into action? Whether you're a seasoned player or just starting out, these easy-to-follow instructions will ensure you're equipped for victory. There are three types of missions:
For certain missions, a photo or video is essential to claim victory. Capture your moment and have fun. To submit your entry: Open the GooseChase app. Choose the relevant mission. Capture your photo or video directly within the app, or select from your media library.
Unleash the power of words to conquer missions. Whether it's solving puzzles, answering trivia, or crafting a story, your responses can lead to triumph. Launch the GooseChase app. Select the relevant text mission. Enter your written answer directly through the app's response field.
Navigate the lake and reach specific destinations using your phone's GPS. Your mission is to arrive at the location provided and validate your presence. Open the GooseChase app. Select the relevant GPS mission. Use your phone's GPS to arrive at the designated location. The app will confirm your arrival within the required proximity.
Each mission comes with its own set of unique rules and limitations. We strongly encourage you to thoroughly review the details of each mission to fully understand the requirements. Rules
To participate, you need to live in Utah. Each household or friend group is limited to one team, but individual play is also welcome. Winners must contact the Authority at events@utahlake.gov within 7 days to claim their prize. By entering the game, you consent to the Authority sharing your submitted photos. Be aware that your photo/video entries will be visible to other players; ensure any personal information is obscured prior to submission. Inappropriate content may result in disqualification. Scoring is based on mission points, with bonus points contributing to the Grand Prize and serving as tiebreakers for Daily Prizes.
How to Register
Assemble your team and prepare for an adventure like no other! Register your team on Eventbrite and pay the $10 registration fee. This one-time fee covers your entire team of up to 10 participants. Once registered, you'll receive a unique code to access the scavenger hunt game on the GooseChase app. Download the GooseChase app and enter your code to begin the quest.
